The vast majority of our students are not required to pay for these courses.

GCSE Maths and English applicants aged 19 and over enrol onto a short 1st Semester course from September to December in order to progress onto a 2nd Semester from January to June when the exams are taken. 
 

*Our advice sessions are often busy, so please:

  • Arrive when sessions open
  • Allow at least two hours for assessment and enrolment

In order to complete the enrolment process you need to show:

  • your passport for identification purposes and
  • any recent benefit letters (if applicable).

We strongly suggest that you apply as soon as possible.
Spaces become more limited over time, as courses fill up.

About the course

The course is for learners who have GCSE maths and English at D or above (or equivalent) and who need a boost with their skills to progress onto further study. You will learn a variety of skills which will help either on another qualification or progression onto the Access course (subject to interview).

You will need:

Maths and English at GCSE Grade 3 or above (or equivalent)

You will learn a variety of study skills: 

  • Essay writing
  • Report writing
  • Presentation and note taking
  • Harvard Style referencing and plagiarism

All assessments will be assignment based with a variety of tasks within this.  You will also have attendance measured as well which will form part of your assessment.

Once completed to a high standard, you will be guaranteed an interview with our Humanities, Business and Media pathways depending on your discipline choice. They will review your results and make sure the standard is to Access level which, if successful, you will start in September 2017.
