Childcare: Caring for a Child/Children - Level 1 Diploma (CACHE)
About the course
The study programme introduces you to the skills and knowledge required to work, with young children. It enables you to develop yourself and prepare you for your next steps in your chosen career.
You will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work with young children, and study a range of units. Each unit has a credit value attached.
4 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above, one of which must be English Language, or an entry level vocational qualification (including entry level functional skills in English E3)
Applicants must also have good references, interview and assessment
Your commitment and interest in the subject will also be assessed during the interview
Evidence of work experience with children under eight is desirable.
Disclosure or criminal background/police check will be applied for at start of course
As part of your study programme you will be studying functional skills in English and maths
To help you to develop your skills and understanding of childcare you will study:
- Sharing learning experiences with children
- Human growth and development
- Healthy living
- Supporting babies
- Preparing for the next steps
Each unit has a credit value attached.
You must achieve 37 credits to complete this study programme successfully.
On successful completion, you may progress onto:
CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (QCF)
All full-time courses are FREE to UK and EU residents aged 16-18 on 31 August in their first year of study.
Most of our Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 courses are FREE to those aged 19+. Please enquire for further information.
