Pathways leading to UK medical schools

City and Islington College is a leading college in London and is the only Government College in London to be inspected and judged Outstanding in all areas by the Government inspectors Ofsted. The college, which has Highly Trusted Sponsor status, welcomes students from all over the world to study and has a diverse and multicultural student population. The college teaches over 12,000 students in its five specialist centres – the majority of which are British students. A-Levels are taught at our Sixth Form College and BTEC Science programmes at our Centre for Applied Sciences.

The Sixth Form College Careers suite is staffed by a team of 3 full time advisors who provide assistance on choosing the right degree, the right university and completing UCAS applications.

This seminar is aimed at giving advice on how to increase your chances of getting into medical school and the course options available - it is suitable for F4, F5 and DSE students.  Students can gain further information about applying to City and Islington College from or by emailing

We have an excellent track record in teaching the Sciences and an overall A-Level pass rate of 98% (22 subjects with a 100% pass rate).  In the past three years we have achieved the following progression:

  • 37 students to the top 3 universities in the UK (Oxbridge and UCL)
  • 24 students onto medicine degrees at universities including UCL, Kings College London, University of Sussex and University of Kent
  • City and Islington College students applying to Medicine are 5 times more likely to be made an offer than the average student in the UK (average offers are 1 in 10, City and Islington offers are 5 in 10)
