About the Course

This Solar Energy course offers practical and theory in the design installation and maintenance of Solar PV systems. Perfect for anyone looking for a career in electrician installation looking to diversify into the renewable energy sector.

This course will provide learning routes into electrical full-time and part-time study programs and also enhance the ability to enter into an electrical installation apprenticeship.

What Will I Study?

The course will cover these topics:

  • Principles: explore how solar energy transforms sunlight into electricity through photovoltaic processes.
  • System components and architecture: examine the details of Solar PV systems, breaking down the components of an efficient setup.
  • Design and sizing: gain an understanding of the design of Solar PV.
  • Regulatory compliance: gain an understanding of the regulations associated with renewable energy.

What Will I Need?

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 1 year or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be provided. If you’re an EUEEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled-status' documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please provide evidence of this).

You will need to be aged 19 or older and eligible to study in the UK. Upon enrolment, you will be asked to upload residency and income documents for college funding purposes.

Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.
