Vocational Studies - BTEC Level 1 Diploma
About the course
Aged 16-18 and interested in a career in customer services and retail? This course will develop the skills and knowledge you need to start working.
You will need GCSE maths and English at grade 2 or above, or an Entry Level 3 certificate that includes English and Maths.
You must also have a reference that shows good behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
Your commitment to the course and interest in the subject will be assessed during an interview.
You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the business world, focusing on retail, and will study a range of units to prepare you for work in customer services.
As well as studying ICT, English and maths, you will also develop your employability skills and will look at your own career development.
Assessment is through coursework, and your attendance will also be monitored.
After completing the diploma, you can progress to a Level 2 course or apply for junior level work in a business - most likely within retail.
All full-time courses are FREE to UK and EU residents aged 16-18 on 31 August in their first year of study.
If you are aged 19+ and looking to study a Level 3 or above course, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees.
