Hairdressing Studies - Level 2 Diploma

About the course

Are you interested in working as a hairdresser? Would you like to be trained by leading professionals? If so, this course could be for you.

You need to have at least an Entry Level 3 qualification in English and/or Maths, as well as good interpersonal skills and references. You will be interviewed for a place on the course.

You will develop practical skills for a range of salon activities, from conducting client consultations to cutting and dressing hair. You will learn how different shampoos and conditioners affect the hair and scalp, and will explore a variety of colouring and lightening products and techniques. You will learn how to work in accordance with health and safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of your clients, your colleagues, and yourself. As well as working in the College's own hairdressing salon, you will also have the opportunity to do a period of work experience. You will also work on improving your English and Maths skills.

You will be assessed on the practical work that you do in the hairdressing salon.

On successful completion of the course, you can progress to related Level 3 qualifications, or move directly into employment, for example as a junior hairdresser in a salon.

Subjects: NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy

Destination: University of Bedford to study Beauty and Spa Management Business Honours

Simone Alalade-Bobb has made it to the University of Bedford to study Beauty and Spa Management Business Honours. She plans after her degree to work on cruise ships using her skills in the Caribbean.

She said: "The course has really changed my life as when I was in school I was not interested in a lot of the subjects but I really enjoy this area. The teachers in the whole department are very inspirational as they have worked in the industry. I would recommend that you come and study here whether that is in hairdressing or beauty."
