You will learn how different shampoos and conditioners affect the hair and scalp, and will explore a variety of colouring and lightening products and techniques. You will learn how to work in accordance with health and safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of your clients, your colleagues, and yourself. As well as working in the College's own hairdressing salon, you will also have the opportunity to do a period of work experience. You will also work on improving your English and Maths skills.
You will be assessed on the practical work that you do in the hairdressing salon.
On successful completion of the course, you can progress to related Level 3 qualifications, or move directly into employment, for example as a junior hairdresser in a salon.
