About the course
Do you dream of becoming a salon manager or owning your own beauty salon? This course will take you towards your goal, giving you the knowledge, skills and attributes to deliver a professional beauty service.
You must have the NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy, or equivalent, as well as a suitable level of English.
You will learn how to perform a range of advanced beauty treatments, including specialised electrical face and body treatments, and electrolysis.
You will also develop skills in general beauty therapy treatments, such as head and body massage for relaxation and stress relief.
The course includes a business-focus, and covers how to effectively manage a salon, the importance of health and safety, and promoting products and services.
You will have plenty of opportunity to practise what you are learning on real customers in the College's own salon, under the guidance of professional beauty experts.
In addition, you will gain an understanding of the relevant anatomy and physiology and will further develop your English skills.
You will be assessed on the practical work that you do in the beauty salon as well as through observations, an e-portfolio, online testing, assignments and oral questioning.
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
Following the course, you can move directly into employment or self-employment as a beauty therapist, or pursue additional courses to broaden your beauty therapy skills further.

Simone Alalade-Bobb has made it to the University of Bedford to study Beauty and Spa Management Business Honours. She plans after her degree to work on cruise ships using her skills in the Caribbean.
She said: "The course has really changed my life as when I was in school I was not interested in a lot of the subjects but I really enjoy this area. The teachers in the whole department are very inspirational as they have worked in the industry. I would recommend that you come and study here whether that is in hairdressing or beauty."

All full-time courses are FREE to UK and EU residents aged 16-18 on 31 August in their first year of study.
If you are aged 19+ and looking to study a Level 3 or above course, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees.
