Exploring Creative and Media Sectors
About the course
Do you have an interest in creative arts and media? Would you like to broaden and deepen your understanding of a career in art, craft design or media? This course will help develop your skills in these areas of interest.
You would need to have completed a course at Entry Level 3 and be working at Entry level 3 Maths and English.
This course is for vulnerable young people who have a statement of educational needs, are receiving additional learning support in school, or are being supported by outside agencies such as family services, educational psychologist and speech and language therapists.
You will take part in a range of practical activities to develop your independence in key areas, such as art, IT, photography and media. You will develop your creative skills alongside Maths, English and ICT.
The course also includes the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.
You will get lots of support and encouragement, including a personal tutor to help you throughout the course.
You will be assessed through completing a portfolio of work. Activities will involve both practical and written tasks which will be assessed through a range of methods.
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve a Level 1 Certificate in Creative Arts & Media. You may also achieve internal qualifications that recognise other skills that you develop. Following the course, you may go into paid, supported or voluntary work. You may also choose to do extra training or study a higher level course at the College (e.g. another Level 1 or Level 2).
He seeks and embraces responsibility
Studied: Practical Woodworking Skills Entry Level 3
As a new student arriving at College, Josh was apprehensive about the unfamiliar environment that he found himself in. Showing dedication and bravery, Josh has transformed from the person he was 2 years ago.
He seeks and embraces responsibility, utilises his initiative to achieve his goals and is ever more willing to embrace the ‘new’. From being able to initiate and maintain conversations, express himself with clarity and depth, to drawing, planning and constructing his wood projects, Josh epitomises the very essence of personal growth.
