ABOUT

A Level Graphic Communication will introduce you to a variety of experiences, exploring graphic communication media, processes and techniques, both traditional and new media. You will look at images and artefacts relating to a range of art, craft and design, from the past to recent times, including examples from across the world. The course will develop your knowledge and understanding of how ideas, feelings and meanings can be conveyed and interpreted, looking at the intended audience and purpose of a work.

  • Drawing
  • Mark-making
  • Print making
  • Typography
  • Illustration
  • Photography
  • Digital design
  • Animation

You will also develop a critical understanding of contextual sources that support and develop your designs. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need to meet the minimum entry criteria, plus: 

  •  Art and Design (or related subject) grade 5, or a portfolio assessment if you do not have Art and Design GCSE or equivalent

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Assessment takes place regularly on the course to provide feedback to develop your visual artwork and written components (through one-to-one support and group critiques of work). The course contains two assessed components - a personal investigation portfolio (60%) and an externally set assignment (40%).

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

PROGRESSION

A Levels are widely regarded as the standard entry qualification for top universities in the UK, and the rest of the world. Many of our students go on to study for a degree at the university of their choice, with some choosing to progress into apprenticeships or other employment.
