ABOUT
This course is for learners who have some knowledge and basic skills in production or maintenance engineering to enable them to progress safely into the workplace/employment or who want to increase their skills and progress onto Level 3 Engineering. It allows you to learn, develop and apply the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the engineering sector.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
The topics covered are:
Unit 201 - Working safely in an engineering environment
Unit 202 - Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
Unit 203 - Using and communicating technical information
Unit 205 - Producing components using hand fitting techniques
Unit 211 - Preparing and using lathes for turning operations
Unit 236 - Assembling and testing electronic circuits
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need:
Three GCSEs at grade 3 or above or an equivalent Level 1 Engineering qualification with Functional Skills at level 1 in Maths and English.
All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements, practice observations, and practical tasks.
FEES
Aged 16-18
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

PROGRESSION
Upon completing this course, you can progress to Level 3 Engineering (apprenticeship route) or Level 3 National Foundation in Engineering (university route).

This course equips you with the skills and experience to progress in engineering, mixing practical work with underpinning theory to develop your understanding of the engineering environment. You will gain a broad level of understanding in performing engineering operations, and be able to progress your skills with further study.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need:
Three GCSEs at grade 4 (above c grades) or above or equivalent functional skills level 1 qualification in Maths and English
There are options to obtain functional skills grades during your study program.
All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

If you are successful in completing your Level 2 program, you can progress onto a Level 3 program. There is also the opportunity of progression to apply for an engineering apprenticeship scheme.
