Digital and IT Skills - Level 2 Diploma

This exciting course is designed to develop digital and IT skills and prepare those aged 16-18 for further learning/training.

The diploma will provide you with an understanding of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and how changes in employment have led to an increase in demand across a number of sectors.

You will learn about the different types of job roles where digital skills are required, and the characteristics valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy. 

You will also identify your own career/progression goals and plan how to develop digital skills to meet your intended goals.

You will study new and inspiring subjects such as:

• Games design development
• Website design
• Social media marketing
• Cyber security
• IT digital project
• Using digital technologies

You will need:

• 4 GCSE's grade 3, including English and Maths

The course is also designed to support learners to obtain higher grades in their GCSE Maths and English. 

You will be assessed by portfolio evidence detailing all coursework.

Aged 16-18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2

If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. You will develop knowledge and understanding of the core areas of digital and an introduction to the skills required in the digital sector. This can lead to internal progression to our Level 3 Diploma courses, Higher Education, Apprenticeship, and direct employment in the industry.

This course will provide you with a practical, real-world approach to learning and developing the specific knowledge you need to work successfully in the industry. 

You will learn about the online world, services and communication, and the impact it has on business, social networking and online security. Your technical skills will be developed by learning about hardware, software, networking and data and the relationship between them all.

You will need:

• GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 3 or above, or relevant Level 1 qualification with Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1
• A reference from your previous school/college

This course will help you to move on to higher-level courses, such as a specialist Level 3 Extended Diploma, or an apprenticeship.

You'll study eight comprehensive units including Digital Skills Career Progression, Games Design and Development, Website Design and Development, Cyber Security, Networking, Database Design, Using Digital Technologies, and Computer Programming—providing you with a well-rounded digital skill set.

These qualifications prepare you for diverse roles across multiple industries—from software and programming to network support and digital design. You'll also develop specialised skills needed in the finance, marketing, and manufacturing sectors. With a mix of mandatory and optional units, you'll gain the knowledge and behaviours expected by employers while mastering a wide range of digital technologies, systems, and software.
