ABOUT

During this course, you will investigate the accidental and malicious security threats that exist to IT systems and data. You will learn about system vulnerabilities and the tools and techniques used to protect users from risks and potential damage, including loss of data, loss of data integrity and unauthorised access to data.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will learn:

  • The types of threats to IT systems and data
  • The factors that affect the vulnerability of IT systems and data
  • Measures to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats
  • The different physical security measures used to protect IT systems and data
  • Create a user access control system to restrict unauthorised access
  • Demonstrate how ethical hacking can be used to protect IT systems and data
  • Summarise the legal requirements and IT security policies and procedures that exist to protect IT systems and data
  • Ethical and unethical conduct when using IT systems 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

The method of assessment for the qualifications is through a portfolio of evidence.

If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning.
