ABOUT

The Level 2 Diploma in Caring for Children and Young People will give learners a basic understanding of childcare and education, parenting and babysitting. It will also help them to make an informed choice about working with children and young people.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Units are selected from the following:

  • Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Introductory awareness of sensory loss
  • Importance of play for early learning
  • Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • The value of play to young children
  • Young children’s development
  • Craft activities with young children
  • Accident prevention and fire safety when babysitting
  • Caring for young children in a babysitting environment
  • Rights and responsibilities in relation to parenting
  • Parenting and healthy lifestyles
  • Parenting a young baby
  • Respecting and valuing children
  • Children’s play and leisure activities in the community
  • Sharing learning experiences with children

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • A grade 3 or above in GCSE Maths and English Language.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

It will be assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks, course work or methods such as oral questioning.

FEES

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

This course is free to study for all 16-18 year old learners.

PROGRESSION

This qualification is not a licence to practice and is designed to help learners progress onto higher level qualifications in childcare and education, which may eventually result in job roles such as practitioner in day nurseries, practitioner in nursery schools, practitioner in reception classes in primary schools or pre-school worker.
