ABOUT

Are you interested in learning and understanding human behaviour? Do you want to understand how people act and feel? Are you interested in going into the field of Psychology or health after college? If so, then this course is for you!

Psychology and Health is a mix-and-match course designed to give students a better understanding of psychological approaches, alongside learning about the human development of an individual and the healthcare sector. Therefore, you will study the BTEC Applied Psychology and BTEC H&Sc together- to equate to 3 A-levels over the 2 years.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

In BTEC Applied Psychology you will cover 2 units:

  • Psychological Approaches and Applications (exam)
    • Social approach
    • Cognitive approach
    • Biological approach
    • Learning approach
  • Conducting Psychological Research (Assignment)
    • You will learn about various research methods and understand how psychologists conduct research. For this unit, you will be required to design, conduct and write your own piece of psychological research!

In the BTEC Health and Social Care, you will cover:

  • Human Lifespan Development (exam)
    • Physical development
    • Intellectual theories
    • Emotional attachment theories
    • Social development
  • Working in Health and Social Care (exam)
    • NHS Legislations
    • NHS Policies and Procedures
  • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs (Assignment)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English/Maths)

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

During the course of the year, you will be assessed through a variety of methods. You will be assessed externally through exams, research writing and assignment coursework. As part of your course, you will also be required to go out on Work experience.
