ABOUT THE COURSE

This course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the business world, focusing on retail, with a range of units to prepare you for work in customer services. As well as studying ICT, English and Maths, you will also develop your employability skills and look at your career development.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • To be aged 16 to 18
  • GCSEs in English Language and Maths at grade 2 or above, or Functional Skills at Entry Level 3 or above
  • A reference from your previous school/college

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is through coursework, and your attendance will also be monitored.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

MEET SOME OF THE TEACHERS

Anne Farrell

Anne is an experienced Curriculum Team Leader as well as lecturing in English, Business and Alternative Provision at City and Islington College. Anne has over 20 years of experience in lecturing and tutoring across all levels and subject ranges in Further Education for students ages 14-24 years old.

When delivering courses, Anne strives to meet the needs of students with diverse interests and abilities by introducing them to a range of subjects that can help them realise a progression pathway (employment, education, or training). The courses Anne delivers are enriched with educational trips, visitors from key organizations, specialist trainers and speakers which link to industry and are designed to develop interpersonal skills. 

Anne is currently delivering BTEC Level 1 Vocational Business and NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business for learners aged 16-18. Anne embeds English to strengthen communication skills and deliver lessons through project-based learning. Both courses are linked to several businesses to provide a business context for a better understanding of the world of work.
