ABOUT THE COURSE

This course will help those with a statement of educational needs, or in receipt of additional support, develop skills in performing arts, exploring the sectors and the careers available. 

You will take part in drama and music activiites, as well as performing both at the college and at outside events. You will develop effective communication skills, as well as how to work as part of a team and build your confidence. You will also have weekly tutorials and work experience hours throughout the year.

This course is suitable for people aged 16-18, and for adults with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

WHAT WILL I NEED?

This course is designed for vulnerable young people, aged 16-24, who have an EHCP and/or are receiving additional learning support in school.

You do not need to have any previous qualifications.

All applicants will have an initial EHCP assessment and an interview to confirm the course is suitable for them. 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through completing a portfolio of work. Activities will involve both practical and written tasks which will be assessed through a range of methods.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

On successful completion of the course, you will be able to progress to other qualifications, such as Level 1 and Level 2 courses. You may also progress into paid, supported or voluntary work.
