This course covers a range of practical skills, focusing on creating healthy, organic and vegetarian food, and then selling it to staff and students in the college.
As well as developing skills in preparing and cooking food, food hygiene and menu planning, you will gain an understanding of how to run a café, including dealing with customers and taking payment. You will also have opportunities for work experience by catering for events inside and outside the college.
In addition, you will develop skills that you can use in all areas of your life, including team-working, effective communication, and meeting and relating to people.
You will get lots of support and encouragement, including a personal tutor to help you throughout the course.
This course is suitable for people aged 16-18, and for adults with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

This course is designed for vulnerable young people, aged 16-24, who have an EHCP and/or are receiving additional learning support in school.
You do not need to have any previous qualifications.
This course is for vulnerable young people who have a statement of Educational needs and or is receiving additional learning support in school. All applicants will have an initial EHCP assessment and an interview to confirm the course is suitable for them.
You will be assessed through completing a portfolio of work. Activities will involve both practical and written tasks which will be assessed through a range of methods.
On successful completion of the course, you will be able to progress to other qualifications, such as Level 1 and Level 2 courses. You may also progress into paid, supported or voluntary work.
