ABOUT THE COURSE

This course develops the knowledge, understanding and skills you'll need to follow your career pathway in Information Technology.

You will work closely with employers, Founders and Coders, charities such as Local Village network, and Yonder who are integrated into the assessment process, giving you the essential skills to get you ready for the world of work, higher education, apprenticeships, and internships.

You will be taught, social media, programming, mobile app development, coding, computer games development, and cyber security.

Within the IT programme, we offer Core Maths, and an opportunity to be part of our Coding club where you can obtain an additional qualification. 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Using Social Media, Programming, Mobile apps Development, Coding, Computer games development, and Cyber security.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • 4 GCSE’s including English and Maths

You will be asked to come to interview to discuss with our course tutor your interest in applying for the course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is carried by completing an employer linked project, and core unit exams which embeds all units related to the course. The project is graded by achieving each task set out in the assignment brief. You will work closely with an employer brief which includes both theoretical and practical topics. This will give you both transferable practical skills and the theoretical ability to enhance your employability status with the purpose of recognising your ability to integrate the knowledge and skills gained on the course.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Some courses will have other associated costs, such as for specialist materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support, see here for details.

Adults - Level 3

If you will be aged 19 to 23 prior to the start date of your course, and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible for a Level 3 entitlement, in which case your study with us will be free. If you are older, or already have a Level 3, we have many other Level 3 courses that are also free to study. Otherwise, you will have to pay the fees yourself or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Karen Sudene

Karen is a highly experienced and knowledgeable IT lecturer in the FE sector. She has dedicated her career to preparing and mentoring students for the rapidly evolving field of technology.

Having worked in both academic and industry fields, Karen possesses a deep understanding of IT principles. She stays constantly updated on the latest developments in the IT sector to deliver comprehensive and relevant lectures to students.

With excellent communication skills and a passionate teaching style, she strives to effectively engage students at all levels of education – from Level 1 to Level 3. Karen takes a personalised approach to teaching and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive academically.

Karen brings her research expertise into the classroom to facilitate critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. As an Information Technology Lecturer, Karen is committed to empowering students with the necessary technical skills, industry knowledge and practical experience to succeed in the IT field. Her goal is to inspire students who can effectively address real-world challenges and contribute to the digital transformation of society.

Aside from teaching, Karen is actively involved in extracurricular activities, organising workshops and talks to further enrich students’ understanding of IT advancements and career opportunities.
