This course has been designed to build your knowledge of the health and social care sector, preparing you for employment in settings such as care homes. You will develop practical skills in caring, effective methods of communication, how to meet individual needs and how to promote the rights of service users.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Your progress will be assessed throughout the course using a range of methods such as assignments and presentations. There are two units which are externally assessed with a written exam to be taken in January.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a Level 3 qualification or an apprenticeship.
