A Level Dance focuses on contemporary dance and you will take part in regular technique classes to improve your skills. You will explore choreography through generating, developing and structuring movement material in response to a variety of stimuli and there will be opportunities to perform in public.
You will study choreographers and their works to develop your knowledge and understanding of dance through time. In addition, trips to see live dance and workshops from professional companies will support and inform your practice.

If you wish to study 4 A Levels, you will need 7 GCSEs at grade 7 or above, including two at grade 8.
All applicants must have an interview to confirm that A Levels are suitable for them.
Assessment is 50% practical and 50% written exam. For the pratical element, you will be required to choreograph a group dance, perform as part of a quartet and perform a solo dance, which will be assessed by a visiting AQA examiner. The written exam will be on a compulsory and optional set work.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. A Levels are widely regarded as the standard entry qualification for top universities in the UK, and the rest of the world. Many of our students go onto study for a degree at the university of their choice, with some choosing to progress into apprenticeships or other employment.
