About

The Sewing Machinist plays a vital role in the production process across various sectors within the industry. This programme will enable you to gain skills knowledge and behaviours to work in the fashion and textile manufacturing industry.

You will be taught specific sewing machinist skills that will enable you to work with a wide range of sewn products including clothing, leather goods, medical textiles, soft furnishings and aviation textiles. You will often work as part of a team and contribute to the overall success of the production output. You will complete quality checks prepare materials and complete work records. You will contribute to a sustainable culture by minimising waste and recycling.

Progression

By completing this programme you will gain a nationally recognised qualification. You will have the skills knowledge and behaviours to work within the fashion and textiles industry. You will also be able to progress onto the following apprenticeships Level 3 Garment Maker or Level 3 Pattern Cutter.

  • Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2 where needed

End Point Assessment

The (typically) 3 month EPA process involves a work based project, professional discussion and final grading, in which a Pass, Merit or Distinction may be awarded.
