About

The Pharmacy Services Assistant apprenticeship is a great opportunity for learners who want to develop their skills and knowledge supporting the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines and products: issuing them to patients, and other healthcare professionals and assisting in providing advice to patients to help them to make effective use of their medicines.

 

Who is it for?

New entrants working as Pharmacy Service Assistants in any pharmacy setting to meet the requirements of the GPhC minimum 
educational standards.

Further Information

Apprentices who complete the Pharmacy Services Assistant programme will aim to gain promotion to senior roles including Senior Pharmacy Service Assistants.

Progression

Learners who complete the Pharmacy Services Assistant level 2 apprenticeship can look forward to a rewarding career in a growing sector. They will have the skills and knowledge to provide high quality patient centred care, be able to effectively manage pharmaceutical stock and be able to accurately dispense a wide range of medications to patients. They will also be able to work effectively as part of a team and support the delivery of quality outcomes for patients. Next step may include the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship programme, Level 3 Team Leading apprenticeship programme or the Level 3 Customer Services apprenticeship.

Training

  • Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff 
  • 5 Occupational duties (KSBs)
  • Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2 where needed

End Point Assessment

EPA is typically three months and will include your portfolio of evidence, an observation and professional discussion.

Pass, Merit and Distinction grades are available.

Learners who complete the Pharmacy Technician level 3 apprenticeship can look forward to a rewarding career in a growing sector. Pharmacy Technicians are registered professionals working within the regulatory standards for pharmacy, as set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Pharmacy Order 2010. They will have the skills and knowledge to provide high quality patient centred care, be able to effectively manage pharmaceutical stock and be able to accurately dispense a wide range of medications to patients. They will also be able to work effectively as part of a team and support the delivery of quality outcomes for patients
