
A Leader in Adult Care has responsibility for managing community or residential based services. This role has a large element of leadership,
whether with other care workers and networks or in leading the service itself. A successful apprentice will have met all the requirements.
They have a responsibility to ensure the service is safe, effective, caring and responsive to people’s needs. They may be a registered manager of a service, unit, deputy or assistant manager. They will be responsible or ensuring regulatory compliance of the care given and the values and training of staff with established standards and regulations.
Leaders in Adult Care may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, community day centre, a person’s own home or some
clinical settings. They will guide and inspire teams to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological, or intellectual challenges. They will be a leader of the care team and will develop and implement a values-based culture at a service or unit level. They may be responsible for business development, financial control, organisational resilience, and continuity as well as for managing risk and leading on organisational change. Learners who achieve the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (England) can, having achieved all other requirements of the apprenticeship standard, progress to achieving the full apprenticeship certification that confirms competency in the job role of Registered Manager with Care Quality Commission (CQC).The qualification will equip learners to hold the role of Registered Manager. All Registered Managers will need to hold this qualification unless they can justify to CQC inspectors a different qualification route. Achievement of a Level 5 qualification can also support progression to higher education and is the only CQC required qualification for Registered Managers and those aspiring to be Registered Managers within the health and social care sector.
End Point Assessment (3 Months)
Learners who complete the Leader in Adult Care level 5 apprenticeship can look forward to a rewarding career in a growing sector. They will have the skills and knowledge to make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, or intellectual challenges. Leaders in Adult Care have the right values and behaviours and skills to lead a service providing high quality compassionate care, in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, days centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.
