A Level entry requirements

A Level entry requirements

Most students study three subjects at A Level. To do this you must meet the entry requirements below.

Entry requirements

You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A Level courses. These are based on your GCSE results.

To study three A Levels you need:

  • Five GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C, including grade 4/C in GCSE English Language

In addition to these general requirements, all courses have specific entry criteria - see the individual course pages entry requirements for details.

It is a government requirement that any student who has not achieved at least a grade 4 in English Language or Maths needs to continue with this subject as part of their study programme.

A Level application deadline

Places at our Sixth Form College are in high demand and we encourage you to apply in November/December. The closing date for applications is 31 January. Applicants who applied before this date will be invited to an interview in March. Applications received after 31 January will still be considered. Applicants who applied after this date will be invited to interview later in the academic year.

We will consider applications received after this date but only if there are places available for the subjects you have applied for.
