Students leading the digital way

15 December 2016

City and Islington College have launched a new pilot programme aiming to improve the student experience with learning technology, developing digital literacies and driving change and innovation.

Eleven students are learning new technologies and social media skills to enhance their studies as part of the Student Digital Ambassador Programme. At the end of the programme students will be awarded with a certificate and personalised reference.

Sessions include a skills audit, focus groups, team work, social media, digital safety, project management, blogging, researching learner needs and designing training.

Students are currently trialling the digital skills training with a group of ESOL students and will promote their service more widely at a College TeachMeet.

If you are a teacher who would like to take advantage of this excellent, free service, our Student Digital Ambassadors can:

  • Give feedback and make suggestions on digital learning
  • Improve others' digital skills
  • Promote technology for independent study and enrichment
  • Test and review educational apps
  • Run student focus groups
  • Create learning resources
  • Design games and quizzes
  • Produce audio or video
