Sixth form college student pioneers University of Oxford programme03 March 2017
In January, the City and Islington Sixth Form College was delighted to welcome back ex-student Fatima Arif who came to talk to current students about the amazing experience she is having on the Lady Margaret Hall foundation year programme at the University of Oxford.
This new course is aimed at those students who have not yet reached their full potential because of life circumstances and Fatima was one of the first students to be accepted onto the scheme which offers places in 21 subjects.
Since studying at Oxford, Fatima has grown in confidence and is well looked after by the staff in the Lady Margaret Hall programme. Fatima is receiving individual tutorials from industry experts including ex-Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger. The course is fully funded by Lady Margaret Hall including tuition, accommodation and living costs. Fatima has now been made a conditional offer for a Biochemistry undergraduate degree at Oxford next year and City and Islington Sixth Form College wish her every success. Applications are now open for 2017 entry and Oxford is keen to receive more applications from the College so we look forward to having more success stories like Fatima’s to share.
