Blended Learning Consortium

02 March 2017 Blended Learning Consortium

As a member of the Blended Learning Consortium (BLC), the WKCIC group has access to a growing library of high quality online resources to support the delivery of blended learning.

The BLC was formed in 2015, with City and Islington College joining in the first wave. Over 25% of general further education colleges in the UK are now part of the Consortium. It was set up to support colleges moving forward with delivering blended learning through the co-development of FE specific resources across the partnership.

Already, the group has access to 640 guided learning hours of resources in the following curriculum areas: Beauty Therapy, Digital Literacies, Employability, Engineering, English, Maths, Business Studies Health and Social Care, Travel and Tourism, Sport, E-Safety and British Values & Prevent.

Due to the growth of the consortium, funding has been secured to further develop multimedia and interactivity of the modules.

Next updates will include learning objects produced in the following areas with opportunities for group staff to be involved in the writing and production of new modules:

  • Spelling Punctuation and Grammar Level 2
  • Computing Level 3
  • Numeracy Level 1
  • Sport Level 3
  • Digital Technologies Level 3
  • IT / Software Development
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Public Services
  • Construction
  • Engineering Level 3
  • Maths Level 2

City and Islington College will be hosting a Regional Blended Learning meeting as part of the BLC on Monday 6 March.
