As well as studying hard, we hope you'll have a lot of fun with us. We want your time at City and Islington to be exciting and life-enhancing.

There are lots of things that you can do alongside your main course, such as taking part in an activity that you already enjoy or developing a brand new interest. Here are some of the things you could do:

  • Dance, drama and music productions
  • History, social and political clubs and events
  • Events that celebrate the college’s many different cultures
  • Trips and projects that will help your studies
  • Sports, health and fitness, complementary health
  • Learn a new language or improve your existing skills
  • Visual arts, film and video, photography, multimedia and IT

You'll have a lot of great opportunities to meet and mix with other students and staff and to make new friends. Think about using these activities to build up your CV – they're just what university admissions tutors and employers want to hear about!

I enjoy my Sports Science BTEC because it’s not just written work, says Sonny, there’s a huge practical element to it as well. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to do other courses that complement this one, such as gym instructor courses and first aid, which has been very useful. My teachers have been extremely helpful and made me feel really welcome; they’ve always been there to help with problems, whether they’re do to with college or personal issues. I would recommend City and Islington because I found it’s not as hard as I thought it would be and you can still fit in a good social life around college
