What is this course about?
It is designed to equip you with the several phases of web
programming and computer game development, from the design and
conceptualization stage, through to the programming and
implementation of graphics and sound effects. In addition to games
development skills, you will learn about web database programming
and content management. You will also acquire the skills
required for good business practice in relation to the creative
media and games industries.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career in the
forever-evolving computer games industry.
What do I need to get on the course?
You will need one of the following, 160 UCAS points in AS or A2
to include a Mathematics or Science A2 at C or above, BTEC National
Diploma at Merit in a relevant subject or a recognised Access to
Higher Education Certificate in a related subject. In addition, 4
GCSE passes at C or above, including English Language and
Mathematics or equivalent.
Candidates may be asked to sit an entry diagnostic.
For students whose first language is not English, one of the
following qualifications is also required:
- IELTS: 6
- TOEFL (internet-based): 79
In exceptional circumstances, students with lower qualifications
and suitable industrial or external experience in
Engineering/Scientific/Mathematical disciplines may be registered
as a student of the Foundation Degree.

Assessments will be carried out by way of written and practical
tests, presentations, written assignments and practical exercises
involving the different aspects of computer games production.
What qualification will I get?
On successful completion, you will gain a Foundation Degree in
Multimedia and Games Technology awarded by City University.
What can I do after the course?
On completion of the course, students will have the opportunity
to enter a Honours Degree in this area of study. This will give you
an added competitive edge in the fast moving market of the computer
games industry and will open the door to creative multimedia
aspects, combining media broadcasting and internet engineering.
