Sport - Paths for Life and Work

About the course

Would you like to work and take part in Sports? Does a learning difficulty or a disability make training difficult for you? This course could be your first step to a career in the Sports industry.

No formal qualifications are required but you would need to be working at Entry level 2 Maths and English and a willingness to move into employment is desirable.

You will learn a range of physical sports skills, from taking part in sports activities and learning about different sporting professions as well as participating in sports within the community. You will also get involved in sports events. These offer great opportunities for building practical experience in a number of areas, including competitions and charity fundraisers. You will also develop your reading and number skills.

You will be assessed through completing a portfolio of work. Activities will involve both practical and written tasks which will be assessed through a range of methods.

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the Edexcel Entry Level 3 Certificate in Vocational Studies. You will also achieve internal qualifications that recognise other skills that you develop. Following the course, you may progress into paid or voluntary work in the sports industry. You may also choose to study another subject at Entry Level 3 or Level 1.

Studied: Practical Woodworking Skills Entry Level 3

As a new student arriving at College, Josh was apprehensive about the unfamiliar environment that he found himself in. Showing dedication and bravery, Josh has transformed from the person he was 2 years ago.

He seeks and embraces responsibility, utilises his initiative to achieve his goals and is ever more willing to embrace the ‘new’. From being able to initiate and maintain conversations, express himself with clarity and depth, to drawing, planning and constructing his wood projects, Josh epitomises the very essence of personal growth.
