My experience has been brilliant and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of my tutor

Nathan Watt

Nathan Watt

Studied: Foundation Degree in Personal Training and Fitness Consultancy

Destination: Won scholarship to teach and learn at the Michael Johnson Performance camp in Texas, USA

Since school, Nathan, 25, from Northern Ireland had been interested in strength training.

He said: “Being a keen rugby player meant I needed to be big and strong. After school I trained individuals for 2 to 3 years and decided I needed to increase my knowledge of the fitness and sports training world. This is when I found the course at City and Islington which was perfect for me.”

Nathan was referred to the scholarship in America by his tutor at the College and beat 10,000 applicants with the use of a training video and Skype interview.

“Alongside this experience I have been working with kids aged 7-12. The facilities here are amazing and some of the equipment is used only on this training camp.

“The experience has been brilliant, and I could not have done any of it without the course and my tutor at the College. If you are passionate about personal training and fitness then this is an ideal route for you to take.”
