Performing and Production Arts (Dance) - UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma
About the course
This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts as a professional dancer or choreographer. It also provides a pathway into musical theatre, drama, physical theatre and the creative industries.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English language, or
- BTEC Level 2 Diploma with Merit or Distinction and functional skills Level 2
- For international students, equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered and you will need IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each skill), or equivalent.
- You need to demonstrate your skills and potential in dance through an audition.
You will study different aspects of dance, including contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, choreography, physical theatre, movement, performing arts in context, and the performing arts business.
The course also covers the history of dance and the performing arts industry. Dance performance is a major part of the course, with the chance to perform in the College theatre and at a range of external venues.
Assessment is made through on going course work assignments including practical work, written work, presentations and performances.
Students who successfully complete the course can progress to a dance conservatoire, university or gain entry to one of the Level 4 qualifications offered at the College. The level 3 course provides a wide variety of transferable skills and experience required to progress in education or apprenticeships.
