IT - BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma

About the course

The BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma & Extended Diploma in Information Technology are designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the technology sector.

They provide an opportunity for those with an interest in technology to explore, develop and test their technical abilities within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

Study for these qualifications will normally be over a period of one year for the 90-credit Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A’ Level) and two years for the Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A’ Level)

The structure of the qualifications, with units linked to provide coherence, will allow students to combine newly acquired practical skills with theoretical knowledge and understanding as they explore their aptitude and ambition and the particular characteristics of a broad range of creative and technical disciplines.

Students will be encouraged to recognise not only the unique characteristics of different disciplines, but also the dynamic and potentially innovative relationships between those disciplines.

• You'll need four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths

• Alternatively you'll need a BTEC Level 2 Merit or above, including Functional Skills at Level 2.

• Relevant employment experience will also be considered
