Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (QCF) - CACHE Level 2 Certificate
About the course
This study programme helps you to gain the skills and the knowledge required to work in a supervised capacity in various childcare settings through theoretical exploration and assessed practical experience. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by NCFE / CACHE.
4 GCSEs at grade 3, one of which must be English Language, or a level one vocational qualification (including entry 3 / level 1 functional skills in English and Math’s)
Applicants must also have good references, interview and assessment.
Your commitment and interest in the subject will also be assessed during the interview
Evidence of two weeks work experience with children under eight.
Disclosure or criminal background/police check will be applied for at start of course.
As part of your study programme you will be doing functional skills in English and Math’s or GCSE English or Maths.
Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment by our assessors.
Upon achievement of the qualification, you can progress into various jobs roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors, such as Nursery Assistant, Classroom Assistant, and Pre-School Assistant. You can also progress on to the NCFE/CACHE Technical Level 3 Certificate Childcare qualification or other level 3 qualifications.

She studied until Level 2 before gaining work experience as an early year’s practitioner at Noel Park Day Centre in Turnpike Lane.
"I studied Level 2 at the College but wanted to start gaining work experience. I got a job Noel Park Day Centre but to progress further. I returned to study at the College and am now working as an early year’s practitioner. My teachers were always very supportive and really helped me get into a rewarding career."
