About the course

This course is designed for remote learners who wish to study for a degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences but who currently lack the necessary qualifications. You will be supported by a personal tutor throughout the year, who will advise you in making applications to Higher Education institutions. This course particularly suits people in work or with family commitments.

You need to have a minimum Level 2 academic or vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in a business or voluntary role. There will be an entry test and interview during which you will be expected to demonstrate your determination and commitment. If you are taking the Humanities pathway of this course, there will also be a written assessment.

Along with the above qualifications, you will also need an IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each component), or equivalent.

Depending on which pathway you choose, you will study a number of modules including Academic Study Skills, Sociology, Politics and Psychology. You will be expected to study these topics on your during weekdays and prepare for group study sessions every Saturday at the College. Similarly, tutorial and assignment support will be given on Saturdays if needed.

Assessment is by coursework and occasional written examinations 

This course is designed to prepare you for further study at University or another Higher Education institution. It can lead you on to a range of careers in the private, public and international sectors, especially in administrative, archival, research or legal roles.
