Do you want a career in the Police Force?
Benefit from a course delivered in partnership with the Police to gain the skills you need to succeed. Get a real-life introduction to operational policing and the opportunity to become a Special Constable.
The Foundation Degree in Policing is a popular pre-join qualification, intended for those who wish to study policing with a view to pursuing a career with the Police either as a uniformed officer or as a member of police staff.
British Transport Police Special Constabulary officers who successfully complete the Foundation Degree will be able to join the British Transport Police when recruitment opportunities arise without the need to attend the assessment centre interview process. 95% of recent graduates of the FdSc have joined the British Transport Police as full time officers.
The programme aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge, practical, vocational and key skills to pursue a career in the policing sector. It is also combined with membership of the Special Constabulary to offer operational policing experience. (Candidates must pass the special constable assessment centre).
The course involves work placements and role plays to give students the practical knowledge needed to develop a career in policing. This course is awarded by The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and delivered at City and Islington College at the London Angel campus.
