Where is the course?

What is this course about?

This course covers the practical and theoretical aspects of hairdressing to gain the skills you need to work in a hairdressing salon, everything from shampooing, cutting, perming and colouring to demonstrating techniques to others. A Hairdressing NVQ gives you the techniques and experience to start or develop your career in the hair industry.

Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who is serious about a career in hairdressing. You will be required to pay for a Hairdressing Kit and uniform

What do I need to get on the course?

  • 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including English and preferably Science
  • Level 1 vocational qualification (desirable)
  • Entry Level 3 or above qualification in English and/or Maths
  • Good reference, interview and assessment and a commitment and interest in the subject.

What will I study?

You will study 9 units including health and safety, consultation, reception, promoting, cutting, shampooing and conditioning hair, colouring, perming and scalp massage. Classes will take place in a realistic salon environment. You will also study functional skills in English.

You may need to pay for a kit and uniform depending on your financial circumstances.

What qualification will I get?

NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

What can I do after the course?

On successful completion of this course, you can gain employment in the hairdressing industry to be able to progress on to Level 3 study.
