What is this course about?

This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a beauty therapist. Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, promote additional services or products to clients, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, provide facial skincare treatment, enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes, carry out waxing services and provide pedicure and manicure services. 

Who is this course for?

This course is for people who want to become qualified to work within the ever-expanding beauty therapy industry. This also allows you to progress onto higher levels of beauty and holistic therapy.

What do I need to get on the course?

A keen interest in beauty therapy. Skills in working with people, Good spoken and written English. You will be required to pay for a Beauty Therapy Kit and uniform on enrolment

What will I study?

You will learn practical aspects of beauty therapy, including facials, make-up techniques, hair removal, eyebrow and eyelash treatments, manicure and pedicure, health and safety. You will cover some business-related aspects of the industry including reception, key skills and customer relations, and you will study theoretical topics such as anatomy and physiology. You will practice all aspects of treatments on a wide range of customers in a realistic salon environment. Professional tutors with specific teaching skills will provide guidance and tuition in areas of beauty therapy theory and practice. You will be assessed by a range of different methods, which include assignments and ongoing practical assessments. You are expected to demonstrate 100% competency in all assessments, with 90% attendance to achieve the full qualification.

NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

What can I do after the course?

On completion, you can progress on to a range of Level 3 courses including: beauty therapy and holistic therapies.

Debbie has faced many barriers to learning, including caring for a son with a disability and being out of education for a long time, but she has never let this get in her way and can often be found studying inside the College before members of staff arrive! Her attendance and punctuality are phenomenal as is her caring nature, both helping and encouraging other students on the course who may need it. Debbie passed all assignments and tests first time and is a student who puts her all into her work, reflecting on her passion for her field.
