Business - Level 3 Extended Diploma (NQF)


About the course

Are you 16 -18 and interested in a qualification that will develop your practical understanding and skills in business management, marketing,  finance and events management?  If so, this 2- year BTEC qualification will support getting your careers started or progressing to HE.

You'll need:

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade A*- C, including English and Maths, or
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma with a Merit or Distinction and Functional Skills at Level 2
  • A good reference, interview and assessment. Your commitment and interest in the subject will also be assessed during the interview process.

Units include:

  • Managing an Event
  • Developing a Marketing Campaign
  • International Business
  • Pitching for a new Business
  • Principles of Management

This qualification is assessed through a combination of methods including essays, presentations, and 2 externally assessed exams in year 1 and 2.13 units of which 7 are mandatory and 4 are external. Mandatory content (66%) External assessment (42%).

This qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is worth up to 420 UCAS points. Following the course, you can progress to university to study a business degree, including specialisms such as Accounting, Business Management, Marketing or Human Resources. You can also progress to employment in areas such as business management, marketing, finance and retail. Alternatively you can study for an apprenticeship.
