Business- Access to Higher Education Diploma
About the course
As a learner on this qualification in HE Diploma in Business you will be offered a coherent, integrated and supported year of study through which you will gain the knowledge, awareness, skills and confidence necessary for successful undergraduate study in a range of computing related progression routes.
The qualification aims:
• To provide HE progression opportunities for adults who, because of social, educational or individual circumstances, do not have the necessary qualifications;
• To give learners a general introduction to the basic concepts, methods, and key areas of knowledge within the Digital Marketing and social media disciplines taken, and offer a coherent and stimulating framework within which they can broaden their intellectual outlook and make connections between subject areas;
• To help learners to develop and consolidate the various skills required to enable them to cope successfully with the demands of undergraduate study and to become independent, self-directed learners;
• To establish a positive and supportive learning environment within which learners can build their confidence through successful learning and the sharing of their experience.
If you successfully complete the qualification you will achieve a QAA recognised Access to HE Diploma.
All applicants must have a minimum grade C in GCSE maths. It would be an advantage if you had also undertaken work experience or voluntary work in a relevant field, where you got to demonstrate your organisational or administrative skills. Your motivation and commitment to the course will be tested at interview.
For International Students: Along with the above qualifications, you will also need an IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each component), or equivalent.
For this Diploma you will study Academic Study Skills, Business Studies, Economics, Leisure & tourism, ICT or Accountancy and Finance options. To be accepted for the Accountancy and Finance option you will have to pass a further assessment.
You will also have a personal tutor who will support you during the year and who will advise you on your applications to higher education institutions.
The course requires between 2.5 to 3 days attendance a week. You will also be expected to undertake private study of 10-15 hours a week in addition to this.
Assessment is by coursework and occasional written examinations.
You can progress on to a range of possible degrees in Business, Finance, Business IT, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, Human Resources, law or similar fields. The course coordinator, careers and higher education advisors, will give you advice and guidance on this, and on your application to university.
