Advanced Beauty Therapy - Level 4 Diploma
About the course
Would you like to build on your existing knowledge of beauty therapy, and develop your repertoire of advanced technical skills?
You must be aged 18 or over, and should have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline, as well as a good level of English.
This course covers advanced beauty practices for reducing hair growth using intense light and laser treatments, and skin rejuvenation using intense light (IPL) and micro-dermabrasion.
You will learn about dermatology and microbiology, as well as the physiology of ageing and the chemistry of hair and beauty products.
You will develop your ability to provide thorough client consultations, developing specific treatments tailored to the needs of individual clients. You will also learn about salon management, including health and safety and salon security.
There will be an element of work experience on the course, in addition to the assessments carried out within the City and Islington College salons.
You will be assessed on the practical work that you do in the salon, as well as through observations, online tests, assignments and oral questioning. You will also complete an ePortfolio.
Following the course, you will have the skills and confidence to accept additional management responsibilities, seek promotion, open and run a salon, or continue on to higher education.

The teachers in the whole department are very inspirational as they have worked in the industry. I would recommend that you come and study here whether that is in hairdressing or beauty."
