Why choose City and Islington College?

What is Access to Higher Education?

If you would like to go to university, but left school without gaining the Level 3 qualifications you need to apply for an undergraduate degree (such as A Levels), Access to HE is for you.

Access to HE Diplomas prepare you for university and are widely accepted by universities as the adult equivalent of A Levels. They are also suitable for students with overseas qualifications who may need to improve their academic English, or whose qualifications are not recognised by UK universities.

Access to HE courses are challenging, but are designed to help learners who may not have been in a classroom for some time. You will study subjects relevant to your chosen higher education course and career path, as well as developing the study skills you need to be a successful student, such as doing research and essay writing.

As the first College to teach these courses, we offer you expert teaching from highly-experienced, friendly tutors who are committed to helping you to achieve your goals.

You may be able to get help with the cost of your Access to HE course starting in 2012 (your eligibility will be assessed when you enrol).

From 2013, college courses at Level 3 and above for those aged over 24 will no longer be government subsidised. A government loan will be available for those who need it, which you will pay back over a number of years after the course, once you earn over £21,000.
