2007

Two very successful Ofsted Good Practice Inspections took place
in 2007.
We were selected as part of a sample of colleges with good
practice in Science (Centre for Applied Science and Sixth Form
College) and Business and Administration (Centre for Business, Arts
and Technology, Sixth Form College and Centre for Lifelong
Learning). Inspectors carried out lesson observations and talked to
students and staff. In Business the following strengths were
identified:
- Good success rates and standards.
- Very good range of vocational enrichment and resources
available.
- Excellent progression rates to HE.
- Strong tutorial and learning support.
In Science numerous examples of 'outstanding teaching and
learning' were observed in 'well-resourced facilities with
imaginative and vocationally relevant assessments'. Leadership and
management was rated as 'outstanding', and again, excellent
progression rates to university and high success rates were
noted.
