Emma Romang

You learn about a lot of different aspects of the fashion industry, says Emma, who is studying Fashion HND and who took part in the Swatch fashion show. You're not just learning about design; you're also learning about the ethical side, such as clothing made from Fairtrade or organic fabrics, and the legal side, such as putting contracts together. We're given a lot of freedom on our course to explore the kinds of design and inspiration that we find most interesting. One of my projects is called 'surreality', which looks at adding a surreal element to utility clothing, and I've received a lot of inspiration for it through visiting various fashion museums on the course.
