City and Islington students will feature in a new national education campaign for schools by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

The students were chosen from a range of courses, including A Levels, Optics, Media, Business, IT, Art and Sports Science, to give a complete perspective of the aspirations of vocational and academic learners.  Those selected were filmed discussing their current studies and what they would like to do, or be when they leave education.

Their views will form the main part of a presentation DSCF will deliver to over 1,300 schools entitled 14-19 Briefing Sessions, about the 14-19 Reforms. The presentation consists of a keynote address supported by video clips on Diplomas, Apprenticeships and Extended Projects, finishing with the aspirations of 14-19 year olds.

The purpose of the presentation is to give teachers a broad scope of understanding of all the reforms and details on where they find further information on any given topic.

The course is really exciting, says Jada, who is currently studying Dance BTEC National Diploma. We stepped out of the box and studied topics such as surrealism, which I really enjoyed. I want to be involved with everything - singing, dancing and acting.
