Students come to City and Islington Sixth Form College from across London, the majority from Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Haringey. We have around 1,300 full-time students, aged between 16 and 18, and 700 adults studying part-time evening language courses.

We have over 100 teachers, all experts in their subjects. They all have degrees and teaching qualifications, and many have second degrees. Most of our teaching staff are very experienced, and many are external examiners for their subjects.  They specialise in teaching and tutoring A-Level students.

Our staff are dedicated to doing their best for their students and take great pride and pleasure celebrating student achievement and progression.

Partnerships in Excellence– University College London

There are opportunities for teachers at the Sixth Form College to engage in educational research projects at UCL. The university is helping to shape future developments at the Sixth Form College through its representation on the College’s governing body.

Marie Barnard

I felt I needed a new challenge in life, says Marie, who is studying the Forensic Science BTEC, and I'd always been interested in forensics. I'm hoping to become a forensic practitioner and I think that this course will help a lot towards that. The teachers have been very helpful; maths is not my strong point and they were a great help with this. I've enjoyed all the practical work and the social opportunities- prior to enrolling here, I'd been bringing up my children- and the Centre for Applied Sciences has great facilities and a great atmosphere. I'd recommend the College because it's been a great place to learn and develop new skills.
