We offer both full-time and part-time courses in child care, health and social care, counselling, advice and guidance, hair and beauty, complementary therapies and courses for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities at our centres in Holloway and Finsbury Park.

Our high success rates are recognised by employers and we have well-established links with over 300 placement providers. We also deliver training to 190 employers across London as well as bespoke training on request, from which we have received great employer feedback. Last year, our students achieved above national success rates across a wide range of the Centre’s provision which resulted in over 100 of our students progressing onto University.

For those who want to gain a degree while working, we offer four foundation degrees at the Marlborough Building: Early Childhood Studies, Education - Primary Pathway and Working with Young People(Learning Mentors) and Public Service Management.

Our dedicated staff offer a responsive and flexible service to employers, as well as all the support students need to complete their course successfully.

We provide students with multimedia and internet access, supervised work experience and a great deal of personal satisfaction as they achieve their educational and career goals. We're fortunate to have a very dedicated staff team who share a commitment to excellence and ensuring all students reach their full potential. Several staff have been with us for many years and others have come to us more recently from successful careers in the field of health, child care or health and beauty. A common bond between staff is the shared pride and pleasure they get from students’ achievements.

Students come from a range of backgrounds and cultures and there are approximately equal numbers of young people and adults. Many of our adult students study part-time and are already in employment. We have very good links with employers to support work experience and to make sure the best employment opportunities are available to our students.

Our cutting-edge facilities include classrooms with internet connection; interactive whiteboards and projectors; state-of-art salons including our recently opened Oasis salon, and beauty therapy rooms, a fully equipped learning centre with access to the latest in IT, a student common room and café, a student counsellor offering advice and guidance and a course information office for general course enquiries.

Elizabeth Jones

The Centre of Applied Sciences was a good place to study because it was very easy to get help if I needed it, says Elizabeth. The teachers were very able at giving helpful answers to any of my questions, so I felt that I received excellent teaching and that I was provided with good equipment to be working with on my course. Elizabeth studied the Ophthalmic Dispensing Diploma.
